Pharmatech Principal Investigator, Chandra P. Belani, MD, provides insights into combination
treatment for advanced NSCLC patients

Dr. Chandra Belani has been involved in numerous clinical research trials to investigate the role of systematic chemotherapy for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer.   The platinum-based combinations in randomized studies have shown an improvement in quality of life, prolonged survival and confirmed efficacy.                                                                                                                                                     
Many different combinations exist with the targeted chemotherapy agents combined with the platinum compounds.  The clinical trial data supports the rationale of individualized treatment for all patients.

The article reviews the combination of carboplatin/gemcitabine for the treatment of advanced NSCLC.
